Product Description The DGE-530T is a 10/100/1000Mbps copper Gigabit PCI card for desktop PC. Capable of running at full-duplex Gigabit speed, this card gives your PC 2000Mbps data transmission on your existing Cat. 5 twisted-pair network cable. As an inexpensive alternative solution to fiber-optic, the card allows you to instantly upgrade to Gigabit without requiring you to install new, expensive fiber cables. The card supports 10/100/1000Mbps network speed auto-sensing and full/half duplex auto-negotiation.The card provides on-board screening of VLANs Tagged Ethernet frames, allowing your PC to be configured with a VLAN-supported switch. Your PC can be part of a VLAN network, where domains are segmented up to enhance performance and security. The card's embedded flow control and independent FIFO for each port provide a means to protect against possible data loss during transmission on the network. When connected to a Gigabit switch Supporting flow control, the card receives signals from the switch regarding buffer overrun during peak usage periods. The card then delays transmission until the switch is ready again to accept new data.rol, the card receives signals from the switch regarding buffer overrun during peak usage periods. D-Link 530T March 4, 2010 Stephen J. Beasinger (Queen Creek,AZ) After buying a Dynex DX-PCIGB card from Best Buy that never would connect to my router at 1 gigabit, I trashed it and bought the D-Link card. Windows 7 installed it and it connected at one gigabit with no problems.
Works as advertized November 23, 2009 Bedazzeled (Chicago, IL) Installed in a foxconn atom bare bones box I'm using for a windows home server. Worked great out of the box, comes with a 1/2 width faceplate that I used, which is why I went with this model.
Great NIC September 10, 2009 C. Auer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Decent gigabit PCI nic. Supports up to 9K jumbo frames/packets, so you can use them in yer gigabit network if you so desire.
I've had no problems with it on any of the machines I've installed it in. Runs great on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.
D-Link is shipping VIRUSES August 11, 2009 DaveInAZ (Choking on dust) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just bought one of these (DGE-530T), from another source, along with a D-Link router. I haven't even opened the router box, because the drivers that D-Link shipped for the adapter are infected with a Trojan virus. My anti-virus software caught it and prevented it from installing, but that also prevented the adapter from working.
D-Link has not responded to my inquiries, thus far. I can't believe I'm the first to report it to them, though. So, since they are not willing to take action, I'm taking action, by warning people. I highly recommend avoiding ANY D-Link products until there is a well publicized clean-up of their drivers.
Not for Linux March 4, 2009 Fiat Lux (New Haven, CT) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I installed this card in an Ubuntu 8.04 desktop system. Runs fine using skge driver EXCEPT no 1000 Gbs operation, only 100 Mbs or lower. Earlier revisions of this card are said to run better, but you can't tell which revision you are buying until you buy it.
Update: While above may have been true (skge vs 1000 bps), an Intel PRO/1000 card also failed to sync at 1000 bps until I upgraded my cables to Cat 5e. RTFM, again!
